Disc World Sculpture
I can finally put up the photos. It's sterling silver. The world is a boulder opal. All the elephants are different.

For folks who are not familiar with Disc World: It's a flat world balanced on the backs of 4 elephants standing on the back of a turtle that travels through space. Water pours off the edge of the world into space. All the elephants are fully sculpted and individually different from each other. (They are about 1" long and 3/4" high)The sculpture is about 4" long and 3" high. It sits on a luminescent obsidian base that looks like deep space. (Not in the photographs.)

It took about 3 years to finish the sculpture.  I loved making it.

Photos are pretty good but don't catch the finest levels of detail particularly in the water.  Opal has lots of color flash that isn't very photographable.

Wow. WowWowWOW.

That is magnificent!

Thanks Geri. Lets talk soon.

What a lovely things to say(do).

I do love it when an artist has occasion to say of a piece, "All the elephants are different."

That's just an amazing thing. I could stare at it for hours.

Appreciated your elephant comment. Maybe I'll be able to have it loaned back for a Worldcon art show.

Thank you. I can't count the hours in the piece. Including the turtle shell, much of which is not visible but is still complete and three dimensional.

Thanks! I'm currently working on a silver fantasy map with Maw-Sit-Sit jade continents and dragons. Like all my sculptures I'll be working on it for along time.
