Not Waving ...

My friend Dawn just picked up a dark brown Ethiopian opal pendant that I made for her.  The stone has a deep red flash that's gorgeous.  We went out for Shanghai dumplings and since I'm helpless before Japanese pottery and tea pots, I bought a new one.

There's a line from the Stevie Smith poem "Not Waving But Drowning"  that I want to use for my next text design.  I keep looking at/through my stones and I can't seem to find the right one. Couldn't define what I'm looking for but (to coin a phrase) I'll know it when I see it.

Am currently imaging small black lace pendants with stones.  I'll see what happens.  I'm in the preliminary stages now, when I'm not designing at my wax bench but contemplating work in my head. I drift around my studio, look at stones and think.
