Into Something Rich and Strange.

I've finished the new rings for Norwescon.  Stones include a chinese carved agate frog, peruvian opal, russian lapis, kyanite, rutilated quartz ....  I love the sound of the litany of stone names.

And I've finished almost all of the silver lace pieces including the incredibly difficult lace dragon.  (A very spiky lace dragon.)

Words are still in the front of my vision.  I'm going to make a pendant based on these lines by Shakespeare from the Tempest.  This time the words evolve into the work rather then being part of the work themselves.

Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.

I think I'll also have elements of this take on the Shakespeare from Eliot's The Wasteland, written 300 years later.

Madame Sosostris, famous clairvoyante,
Has a bad cold, nevertheless
Is known to be the wisest woman in Europe,
With a wicked pack of cards. Here, said she,
Is your card, the drowned Phoenician Sailor.
(Those are pearls that were his eyes. Look!)
Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card,
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;
One must be so careful these day.

I've been looking through my coral (among other things) and an thinking about some vintage deep red coral branches.
